I started work in the care industry in 1991, after a serious motorcycle accident. I was cared for by a nurse auxiliary Lyn, an older lady of a similar age as my mother who was amazing, so kind, caring and compassionate about people. This inspired me to do her job to the best of my ability. I remember my first day spent in a classroom learning how to become a support Worker for people with learning disabilities, Autism and behaviour problems, I worked my way up the ladder until I became a registered manager in 1996 which I continued to do until 2017 when I started to train as a teacher. I have learnt my craft as I was becoming disheartened by the standards of care, which I truly believe is down to the level of training these days and I wanted to pass on my knowledge and experience’s. In 2017 I started volunteering for a national voluntary ambulance service and have worked my way through the ranks which I still do today, this has also inspired me to volunteer as a CFR with GoodSAM providing community assistance to those in need of emergency aid.
I have worked in Statutory Services for a number of years. I qualified as a Social Worker in 2009 and worked in Children's & Families Social Work, I went on to be the team manager for the emergency out of hours team managing a team of AMPH's and social workers covering Children's, Adults, People with Mental Health issues and the homeles

In 2017 I became an Independent Social Worker with the courts and CAFCASS working on Private and Public law cases. Marc and I met on a cruise ship where we instantly formed a bond and have become good friends. In 2019 Marc asked if I would join MAWTraining and become the companies Safeguard Lead

I have worked in the Health and Social Care sector since I left college in 2001. This started with my first job as a care assistant working with older people with dementia and other care needs. Alongside this I also started working for a private ambulance company as an advanced first aider delivering event first aid and working for their patient transport service up until 2009. At that time I was also volunteering for a national ambulance service as an event advanced first aider. I then moved to Oxfordshire in 2011 where I joined the Orders of St John care trust again working as a care assistant, whilst also looking after my partner who had a serious disabling injury from the Royal Air Force. In 2013 I moved back to Kent and became a senior in a Forensic Mental Health service and then on to be a senior in a service for young adults with learning disabilities and challenging behaviour. It was after attending several training courses of Marc’s I was inspired to become a trainer and teach people first aid and care courses.
I have worked in Care, including community, dementia and nursing home, since I was 19. I am a wife and mother of 2 girls. I love my job, which is more of a vocation really. I have 13 years of experience and am dedicated to the field. I am grateful that I can share my knowledge and experience with the people I train, and for them to have as much enthusiasm and love for their job, as I do.
